Sensor Explanation: How the Gyro sensor it self works

Printer-friendly version

The Gyro sensor works by rotating at a set speed (once running that is each gyro will be different and every run can be different) to put it simple think of it as a free spending wheel that when you move it around spends at different speed then normal and when you move it sideways it tips some on the side. The movements affect it the amount of turns it gets per sec. this number alone is not going to do you much good. What you need is to know what the average number of rotations it gets is so long well at rest. You take this number and make it the number of rotations it should get anything else above or below that would be conversed movement. That movement is what you use to program your robot.
