Challenge: Robot Research

Do research into how accurate various robot designs are in preparation for the robot competitions in the fall.

• Are two wheel robots more accurate than four wheels?
• Does tire type make a difference?
• How about gearing?
• How fast can a robot go before accuracy starts to suffer?
• Rotation sensor gearing?
• How about stopping before turning?
• Is it better to stop slowly or just slam on the brakes?

You can take this as far as you like. You can also investigate how to make a robot go straight (this is a big problem because most robots tend to drift one way or another.) You’ll guarantee your team a great score in the fall if you become an expert in getting a robot to go where it’s supposed to go.
