Instructional Material: EV3 - Powering the Brick

The lesson utilizes the "Getting Started 1:Batteries" video from the "Basics" menu in the EV3 Trainer (a.ka. Introduction to Programming the EV3 Curriculum product from Carnegie Mellon University's Robotics Academy).  If you do not have access to this resource,  then use the attached resource from pp 8,9 of the EV3 User Guide.  Also, the EV3 Trainer has a lesson on the Menus on the EV3 under the "Basics", "Getting Started" , lesson #4.
