Objective: To control your robot as it creates a pattern.
Points Possible: 100
Rules and Procedures:
You will need a wall or box and something that is black – see the drawing below:
- The robot should start 90 degrees to the wall.
- It should move away from the wall for about 2 seconds.
- You then need to make an approximately 90 degree turn.
- Each distance should be at least 16 inches.
- You will then run parallel to the wall for 2 seconds.
- You will then turn 90 degrees and move forward until you detect a wall.
- Upon detecting the wall you will reverse the robot.
- The robot needs to run in reverse until it detects a black line.
- When it detects a black line it needs to stop and play 8 notes of music.
- You have unlimited time.
- The entire event must be completed.
- You must use our individual challenge robot.
Grading Guide:
- If you can get the robot to perform correctly within 3 tries you get 100% of the points.
- Each attempt after the first 3 costs you 10% of the points.
Notes:
- You can practice as much as you want.
- Tell your instructor when you are ready to demonstrate an official attempt
- You cannot change our robot.
- If the tracks are slipping you may want to clean the tracks or the floor.
- Friction can make a big difference on this challenge. There are a lot of places that friction can affect the robot performance. You can check for friction on our robot.
