This link is the Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA) short lesson on Registration of Unmanned Aerial Systems correctly states that drones above the FAA weight limit MUST BE REGISTERED if flown outdoors, even if operated under the Recreational Flyer rules. This lesson describes this requirement and walks through the registration process.
