Instructional Material: Fruit Picker Extended Challenge
The complexity of the Fruit Picker challenge can readily be extended:
-
More than two trees
- dead reckoning and odometry solutions will likely be insufficient
- sensors will need for navigation
-
Only collect one color of fruit
- requires a light (or color) sensor be attached to gripper to distinguish the fruit
- need to allow for incorrect fruit to be discarded (fruit may topple while being checked for color)
-
Random tree locations
- requires a tree searching program and the US sensor (or touch sensor if your trees are quite rigid)
- a modified gripper or tree-honing program may be required
