Classroom Resource: CTE High School Frameworks & Leadership Equivalencies

Attached are the model CTE Frameworks (from the Olympia School District) for High School Introductory STEM+CS Robotics (101) and STEM+CS Robotics Engineering (201).  Also attached are model CTE Leadership Equivalency documents for FIRST LEGO League (FLL) Support/Community Outreach or FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) as leadership activities.

The Introductory STEM+CS Robotics (101) framework is based on the STEM Robotics 101 EV3 curriculum on this site and this current revision incorporates the new Washington State CTE Framework Template and CTE Leadership Standards, the Common Core Standards for Math and English Language Arts, the Next Generation Science Standards, the new Washington Computer Science Standards and a mapping of FLL's three components to the 21st Century Skills. This framework is specific to the LEGO MINDSTORMS EV3 platform.

The STEM+CS Robotics Engineering (201) framework is written as platform agnostic, however the curriculum alignment and Leadership Equivalency provided are based on the Java4Robots curriculum on this site and curriculum resources from FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC).  This current revision incorporates the new Washington State CTE Framework Template and CTE Leadership Standards, the Common Core Standards for Math and English Language Arts, the Next Generation Science Standards, the new Washington Computer Science Standards and a mapping of FTC's components to the 21st Century Skills.

NOTE:

This is MASTER Framework containing all the units, lessons, competencies and standards that CAN be taught with Introduction to STEM+CS Robotics.  Each school/district needs to “prune” and modify this framework to reflect the actual:

> Leadership Activities and Performance Assessments that WILL be used,

> Leadership Standards and Competencies that WILL be demonstrated,

> WA Standards that WILL be covered

on a unit-by-unit basis.

The totality of Leadership Standards covered should be reflected in the 21st Century Skills Alignment table at the bottom of this framework.
